Grade to Grade Promotion
9th Grade
| Promotion | The student passes 5 out of 7 core courses1 and is promoted to the 10th grade. |
| Probation | The student passes 3 or 4 out of 7 core courses, is retained in 9th grade, but moves on to 10th grade with his/her class. To be formally promoted to 10th grade, a student must have passed at least 5 out of 7 ninth grade courses by the end of the first trimester of their 10th grade year. To pass a failed 9th grade course the student must earn a C or higher in the subsequent 10th grade course. If the student does not pass 5 out of 7 courses, he/she will be removed from 10th grade and join the 9th grade team. |
| Retention | The student passes 2 or fewer core courses and is retained in 9th grade. |
1 Each course contains two trimester grades such as U.S. History 9A and 9B. In order to pass the course a student must achieve a 1.5 average on the two grades. Grade values are A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, E=0.
All required classes in 10th-12th grade must be successfully completed to graduate.
10th Grade
| Promotion | The student passes 6 out of 7 core courses and is promoted to 11th grade. Any required classes failed in 10th grade must be made up during the elective period in 11th grade. |

11th Grade
| Promotion | The student passes 5 out of 6 courses and is promoted to 12th grade. Any required classes failed in 11th grade must be made up during the elective period in 12th grade. |
